Toti was a young , smart squirrel. Athletic, dedicated, and had a no-nonsense manner which was exactly why he was a guard of their clan, which consists of his family and neighboring squirrels. He also happened to be the son of Sciorus the millionth, the leader of the clan. It was an average day in the county of Oklahoma, Toti was out looking for his little brother, Kik, who hadn’t been seen all morning. He had looked around in the center of the park, now it was time to search the outer area, which wasn’t good news. The outer areas aren’t as save.
“Oh, there you are kik” Toti said to himself, barely being able to see him through the trees and bushes.
It looked like Kik was talking to someone but Toti couldn’t tell. Either was he was heading in his direction so he was going to find out soon who that was. As Toti got closer to kik, it looked like he was talking to a small, chubby creature, but didn’t quite recognize him. Toti squeezed to the last set of bushes between them and when he popped out on the other side and reached Kik, the other creature was gone.
“Hey kik, what are you doing out here? You’re too small to be in the outskirts alone. And who was that you were talking to?
“I wasn’t talking to anyone.” –replied kik, not even trying to sound convincing. “Toti I want to go on the other side of the road.”
“You can’t!” You’re defiantly not allowed to cross the road, you’re not even allowed to be right here, c’mon, I’m taking you back.” Toti began walking back.
“No but the old guy said there’s lots of nuts over there and new trees to explore.”
“What old guy?” Toti turned to Kik and looked alarmed. In the instant, Kik made a run to the road.
“KIK! NO!” yelled Toti desperately and chased him. He couldn’t believe what had gotten into his brother. Why would he take off like that, crossing the road was one of the most dangerous things a squirrel can do.
There it was, the edge of the park. Toti looked left and right for kik trying to see if there were any cars coming, but you can never be to certain.
“KIIIIK!STOOOP!”
Kik reached the edge of the road and stopped for a second. Suddenly, Toti heard the strange noises coming from the black and white cars with red and blue lights on top. He had seen them before, Knew how fast they moved compared to other regular cars. He ran as fast as he could towards Kik not knowing if he was actually going to cross the street. Kik had never come across the black and white cars before, for all he knew Kik couldn’t have thought the sound was coming from the other side of the road. Kik turned around to look back at his brother then took off. And just as Toti feared, Kik was hit by the cop car.
“Aww damn! Did I just-?“ Said the young officer in the car as he looked through his rear mirror trying to spot what he hit.
“Damn! How am I going to explain this to the guys? I’m gonna look so bad and its only my 4th day here”.
Later that night, Toti was sitting alone on a treetop after informing his parents the terrible accident. He was thinking a lot about the black and white car, kind of angry at it. A noise behind him broke off his thought. It was Maylee, the girl he liked. She walked up and sat next to him.
“Hey Toti” Said Maylee in a soft voice, trying not to sound like a bother.
“Hey Maylee”.
“Thought you could use some company or someone to talk to...”
Toti Nodded. “Thank you”
“Why are those cars with lights always going so fast?” said Toti.
“Oh you mean the black and white ones?”
“Yeah!”
“I know where to find them”
“You do?” Toti said somewhat exited with ideas running through his head.
“Do you want to go see them?”
“Uh, no, we shouldn’t”
“C’mon!” Maylee grabbed Toti’s hand and went to go see the cop cars. Again Toti found himself chasing someone in the wrong direction. He didn’t want to go but he wasn’t going to leave her alone.
“There they are” Maylee moved away some leaves so Toti could see the police station with all the cop cars outside.
“So this is where they come from”
Suddenly they both heard something creping nearby. They looked around nervously. Then it was more than one. They could hear that they were surrounded and it was getting closer and closer, and then… nothing. Toti and Maylee didn’t know if they should brace themselves for something big or make a run for it. And just when it seemed like they were about to make a move, BAMB! Three Flying squirrels popped out! Toti and Maylee yelled for a second until they notice the three squirrels looked familiar.
“Sky? Is that you?” Asked Toti, trying to look past the black cloth covering his face and body. Ski? Skew” is that you guys?
“Hehehe yep!” The three giggled as they took their masks off.
Sky, Ski, and Skew were 3 clumsy, goofy, flying quarrels. Sky was the tall one, that’s why he was given the name Sky. Ski got his name because he would always slide and miss his target when he landed on the ground. And skew, well, that came from his goofy looking body proportions.
“Haha, we gotsya good di-in’t we?”Said Skew.
“Yeah you did” replied Toti.
“What are you guys wearing?” Asked maylee highly curious.
“I don’t we saw these kids wearing them earlier-“
“Yeah they were all dressed in black and were running around with thin looking sticks. They left a piece of whatever this is and now we’re dressed up like them.
Toti and Maylee just looked at the bunch all weirdly but they weren’t surprised about these guys doing something like this.
“So what are you guys doing out here this late?”
Maylee explained the situation to them.
“Oh, I see.” Said the trio
“Well, since we’re dressed up for it, how bout we go over there for a little payback!?” Said Ski.
“No, no, no, no, no, no” That’s out of the question. I’ve had way much excitement for today”
“Mmm I don’t know Toti, I think this is exactly what you need”- suggested Maylee. “We’ll just go in and out”
“Yeah we can even share with you some of this black cloth” Said Skew as he and Ski took their capes of to cover up Toti and Maylee.
“Lets Go!” Said Sky pulling Toti and maylee’s hand as he got closer to the edge of the tree branch.
“Ski, grab hold of Maylee’s hand and Skew you grab hold of Toti. Weregonna fly over there in styyyyle”.
The squirrels flew across the street. For a second, Toti actually enjoyed it. They landed safely in the parking lot and then they spread out, each headed for a car and went inside it to check it out. Skew went inside the hood and ended up chewing the wire of the car. Sky collected a bunch of sharp looking rocks that were nearby and placed then under the tires. Ski, being the last one to touch ground floor kept gliding and ran into a nut. He hid it in the cars exhaust pipe for “save keeping”. Maylee managed to break off the side mirrors to a couple cars. Toti just walked by the car carefully, looking at them with great distrust.
“911” Emergency” Said an officer inside the building.
A group of officers ran out of the building sending the quarrels running away from the cars and into a near by tree. The officers rushed in to their cars turned them on, and when they tried moving some ended up completely frozen while another, which must have had its wires rewired ended up crashing in the cars.
The squirrels laughed pretty far from a distance as they watched the cops make fools of themselves. Then they went home.
“Haha, that was actually kinda fun” Said Toti.
“We should totally do it again tomorrow”
For the next week and a half, the squirrels went over across the street and vandalized the property any way they could. From messing with their electricity, to giving the keys to the prisoners held inside so they can escape. When the cops set up cameras, the squirrels would turn on the sprinklers and get them wet. During the day they would pick up any items left behind my people in the park and use them for little missions. One day they got a cell phone and used to prank call the cops.
“Anything on the squirrels?”Asked Chief Bill.
“Nothing Chief.” Replied officer Joe. Should I just call animal control?
“I think it’s about time we do. We’re spending too much time and money on these little rodents.
“Chief, do you smell something?” Joe sniffed. It smells like smoke.
Suddenly the fire alarms went off.
“EVERYONE OUT!”Yelled the Chief as he ran to the fire extinguisher.
Fortunately it wasn’t a big fire a he was able to put it out with the fire extinguisher. Joe searched thro the footage of the cameras that were set up to get a look at their suspect.
“Chief! Take a look at this” pointing to the monitor. All they could see was an out of focus image of some kind of squirrel looking animal. And it was enough to get the chief to call Animal Control.
24 hours later the squirrels met up on the tallest tree near the road. All dressed in black with half a nutshell on their head for protection the squirrels were ready to make their move again.
“Alright guys, lets have some fun!” Toti said as they jumped off the tree and glided to the parking lot.
Toti walked passed the cars thinking of what he could do this time. He began feeling like something wasn’t right. Everything was surprisingly calm. He stopped and looked around see where his friends were.
One by one he spotted them making sure they were safe.
“There’s, Maylee, there’s, Ski… there’s Sky… and there’s Skew.” Toti said softly. Then he spotted a red light near Skew.
“Wait a minute.” He said to himself”.
He didn’t know what it was but he was hoping Skew wouldn’t get any closer. He didn’t want to yell out and make it obvious. He couldn’t run across the parking lot because he knew there were cameras. Toti eagerly watched as skew moved back and forth getting closer to the light and then further away. Skew seemed to finish doing whatever he was doing. He was beginning to step away when suddenly he slipped and fell right in the path of the red light. In that instant the entire parking lot lit up. The bright lights cause all the squirrels to nervously make a run for it.
Toti was temporarily blinded because the lights came on so quickly. He tried retracing his steps but ended up going a wrong way, leading him to a trap.Maylee noticed Toti was in trouble and went back to help him.
“Oh no, Toti, how do I get you out?” Maylee said as she tried hitting and pulling the cage apart.
Toti was doing the same but noticed cops where heading their direction.
“Maylee, go!” Toti said”
“I not leaving you” Replied Maylee.
“You have to go, I’ll be ok, hurry their coming!”
Toti held her hand through the cage. A tear went running down Maylee’s face. Then she kissed him. A cop showed up to find Toti in the cage.
“Gottcha” The officer said.
Officer Joe took the cage inside and placed it in his desk.
“Alright guy we got an emergency call” said Chief Bill. “A lady reports there’s some kind of animal in her toilet, we better go check it out, Joe you stay here and guard that rat!”
Everyone took off.
“I’m not a rat, Im a tree squirrel and my name is Toti!”
Joe looked at him shocked, scared, and surprised.
“You, you talk? He said nervously.
“Are you the one who killed by brother” Said Toti.
“Kill him?” Joe thought about it for a moment. Are you talking about, oh, that was your brother? I didn’t mean to, it was an accident.”
“He was just a kid, he didn’t know how dangerous cars can me, much less the ones you people drive.”
I was in a hurry, I got an emergency call. But that’s what the sirens are for, to warn people we’re speeding.
Toti looked at him and knew he was being honest. Maybe squirrels should pay more attention to the sirens before crossing the road. Either way Kik was just a kid, a few weeks old and didn’t know better. But then again, there was that little creature he was talking to. He must have said something to him because Kik was so eager to cross the street.
“Wait!” Officer Joe interrupted his thought. “Is this the reason you vandalized our property? A little revenge for what happened to your brother?”
“Toti looked down in shame”
“Okay I get it, you were angry at us, or me, and you wanted to get to do something about it.” Damaging our cars, our some of our cameras, that’s one thing, but you took it to a whole other lever when you tried burning down this building. That’s unacceptable!”
“Wait what? I didn’t try burning down the building.” Toti replied extremely shocked. He even thought about the stuff they did the last couple of weeks and making sure he or his friends weren’t responsible to burning the building.
“Well we have you on tape!” Said the officer, bringing up a still on the monitor.
Toti looked at it.
“That’s, that’s not me…” He replied. It didn’t look like any of his friends either.
Then Officer Joe got a call on his intercom.
“Joe! We need backup! Some chipmunk is attacking us-“ the message was interrupted with static.
“A chip…munk,” Said Toti and Joe at the same time. Suddenly Toti got flash backs when he saw Kik talking to somebody. He thought about a chipmunk and description fit the blurred image he had of the creature. Looking at each other, Toti and Joe both slowly turned to look at the monitor, looking closely they realized the animal that had started the fire was indeed a chipmunk.
Joe turned around and headed for his car.
“Wait! Take me with you!”
Joe thought about it for a second then let Toti out of the cage and let him climb on his shoulder. Joe got into his car and Toti jumped on the passenger’s seat.
“See, this is when I turn on the sirens and speed to the rescue”
Toti gave an “I guess it’s okay” kind of look.
“But don’t worry, I’ll be extra careful for squirrels” Joe said Smiling.
Then Toti cheered up.
Joe arrived at the lady’s house. He walked through the front door with caution, Toti followed.
“Chief! Alex! You guys there?”
“Back here!” he heard from a distance. Joe and Toti showed up outside the bathroom to find 6 cops on the floor, with cuts, bites, and their uniform all ripped.
“We couldn’t handle that chipmunk- WOW! Watch out for that squirrel behind you!” An officer shouted warning Joe.
“It’s ok, hes’ cool, guys this is Toti, I think he can help us out right here”.
The guys just looked at each other and realized it was worth a shot.
“Hes still in the bathroom, be careful.” Said Chief Bill.
Joe slow opened the door with a taser gun ready in his hand. He step in the bathroom very carefully but didn’t see anything. Toti went in, sniffed around. He could smell him.
“He’s here” Said Toti.
Suddenly the chipmunk popped out and attacked Joe. Joe managed to grab the chipmunk and ripped him off his clothes. The chipmunk fell to the floor where Toti got a good look at him.
The old chipmunk looked at him with evil eyes and laughed. Toti angrily ran towards him. Joe was going to tase the chipmunk but since Toti started chasing him he was going to wait until he got a clear shot. The chipmunk ran towards Joe’s leg and before Joe could do anything the chipmunk was inside his pants. He was so in shock he didn’t even notice Toti was heading in there too and a crazy chase began inside the joe’s pants.
The old lady that lived in the house went over to see what was going on in her bathroom and she found the officer dancing. Joe froze when he saw her in embarrassment and then two brown objects fell off his pants through the middle of his legs. The lady turned around not wanting to know what she just saw. The chipmunk ran out of the bathroom and Toti followed. They ran all over the knocking down everything in their path. They landed on a desk, the chipmunk picked up a pen and pointed it at Toti. Toti quickly picked one up and they both started fighting with the pens acting as swords. During the fight with all the acrobatics involved Toti made a 360 degrees turn but the Chipmunk reached for his tail and bit it, stopping Toti long enough to knock the pen out of his hand. Then Chipmunk tackled Toti down. He raised his arms aiming the pen on chest, in that instant, Officer Joe pressed the trigger on this teaser gun and shocked the chipmunk off Toti.
Toti rejoiced their victory at the station with the officers and his friends. They gave Toti police badge and officially became Joe’s partner. The duo became worldwide famous for all their success.
